An actor, director, and playwright, Rafael’s work embraces plurality through the encounter of different languages: theater, visual arts, music, audiovisual, and circus.

Born in São Paulo, his theatrical journey began in 2007 with the theater group of Colégio São Luís and the Conexões Project. Later, Rafael became a professional through the technical course in dramatic arts at Teatro Escola Macunaíma (2009-2015), the bachelor's degree in Art-Theater at the Institute of Arts of UNESP (2015-2019), and the technical course in Stage Techniques at SP Escola de Teatro (2024-2025). His education also includes open workshops that expanded and deepened his skills, such as Puppet Theater (taught by Catin Nardi), Introduction to Clowning (Bete Dorgham), The Embodiment of the Poem (Rodrigo Mercadante), Playwriting Workshop (Silvia Gomez), Fireproof (fire breathing taught by Luix Equixx), Dance with Fire and Mask Workshop (both taught by Gaspar Olivares in Valdivia/Chile), among others.

He founded Santa Companhia in 2014, where he develops the continuous research of the manifest-rite, based on Oswald de Andrade’s Anthropophagy and Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Psychomagic. At Santa Companhia, he wrote and directed the plays and interventions: Futurice (Des)Humana, Sábados Pensativos, Anamnese, Antropofrei, Cora Primavera, Olho d'água, and Karabaré: Poesia Enamorada. He also developed the podcast Bemdita!, the miniseries Anthropophagy in Research, the short film Ditiramba Pra Subir, and the music video for Meu País.

He worked with NITT – Núcleo de Investigação Teatral Tecnorupestre, where he directed the transmedia experiment This Is My Banana! and performed in Witchcraft Music, directed by Fredy Állan Galembeck. Rafael participated in over 20 productions, including Distopia Brasil (directed by Pedro Granato), The Wedding Dress (Vestido de Noiva, directed by Zédú Neves), Captains of the Sands (Capitães da Areia, directed by Kalassa Lemos), Songs that Sing over Birdperches (Cantos que Cantam sobre Pousopássaros, directed by Tuna Serzedello), among others.

As a stage technician, he worked in operas at Theatro São Pedro and in musical productions such as Wicked (2025) and República Lee (2024).

Being a "creature of the theater," the most generous art in embracing other languages and fields, Rafael has become multidisciplinary. In audiovisual arts, he brings his stage vision to technology, directing performers in short films and producing feature recordings of his plays. In circus arts, he specializes in fire breathing, dancing and manipulating the fire element. In visual arts, he developed a line of oil painting works and a practice of creating and performing with expressive masks. In music, he is a multi-instrumentalist: a trumpet and clarinet player with percussion knowledge. Rafael plays with the Cordão Cheiroso street band and is part of Santa Companhia’s musical ensembles.

Available for acting in shows, performing fire breathing at events, teaching classes and workshops, crafting masks, among other activities, Rafael invites you to explore his portfolio and check out the available Services and Workshops. Browse this website and learn more about his work and journey.
